5 Holiday Email Marketing Ideas

December is fast approaching, but there’s still plenty of time to prepare your business for the holiday season. One way you can do this is by creating an email marketing strategy to hopefully increase sales (and goodwill) during this merry time. Here are a few ways you can engage with your customers this holiday season through email marketing.

Promote Events. Is your business holding a special holiday event, such as an open house or kids’ craft day? Use email marketing to inform your contacts of events going on at your business. If you’re involved in any community events during the holidays or are sponsoring an event or charity, email marketing is a great way to invite your contacts to participate. This will not only help increase attendance but will also let them know what your business is doing for the community.

Provide a Special Offer. ‘Tis the season for deals! Consider offering a promotion to your email subscribers as a thank you for their loyalty. Put the offer in the subject line so your contacts will be enticed to click. If your offer spans a week or two, send a reminder before the promotion ends to help last-minute shoppers take advantage of your deal.

Share Gift Ideas. Maybe your product or service isn’t something usually found under a tree or in a stocking — that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t make a great gift. Do you own a car dealership? Your detailing service would be a great gift for a busy mom whose vehicle looks like it just came out of the McDonald’s play place. Do you own a beauty salon? Offer a special holiday package for the gift of a spa day. Do you own a restaurant? Gift certificates make a great stocking stuffer—maybe pair it with a branded t-shirt or beer mug!

Wish Your Customers a Happy Holiday. This holiday email marketing idea applies to any organization, whether you are B2B, B2C, or nonprofit. No matter if your contacts are donors, customers, vendors, etc., use this time of year to send a special thank you and holiday well wishes—it won’t go unnoticed!

Share Post-Holiday Offers. Stretch your sales a little more by offering post-holiday deals. You can also encourage those who may have received a gift certificate to use it!
