Our Team

Angela found her passion for marketing when she began her journey at UMaine’s Foster Center for Student Innovation. As an Innovation Engineering Black Belt and Innovation Outreach Manager, she spent the following decade specializing in strategic marketing in addition to leading others in operational efficiencies, new product development, and culture change. During her time at UMaine, Angela supported more than 200 companies across the state of Maine. Most recently, she held the position of Senior Marketing Manager at The Jackson Laboratory where she was responsible for the development and deployment of the global marketing strategy for JAX Mice and Services.
In her spare time, Angela’s hobbies are woodworking, knitting, and painting. She also enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, two children, and two beagles. Angela holds a B.A. in English from Coastal Carolina University and an M.A. in English from the University of Maine.

Heidi has been with the Bangor Daily News since 2005, where she started as an Inside Sales Assistant in the Advertising Dept. She has held different positions at the Bangor Daily News, including Outside Sales Media Consultant, Creative Ad Coordinator, Campaign Development Strategist and Digital Ad Operations Manager. Currently, Heidi is the Agency Operations Manager for Pulse Marketing. She graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with a degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations. She lives in Bangor with her husband and their 4 boys.

Brian H. Cotlar joined Pulse Marketing Agency in July of 2021, after serving for five years as the Director of Membership & Sales at the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. Brian started his career in Maine in 2009, when he left the Philadelphia metro area and took a media sales position with the Bangor Daily News.
Brian firmly believes that the business owners in our Maine communities play a pivotal role in the quality of life and availability of services and amenities in our region, and he is a passionate advocate for anything that helps the business community thrive.
Brian likes to keep busy and volunteers for Ronald McDonald House Charities in Bangor. Additionally, he has refereed high school football and is a Past Master of St. Andrew’s Lodge #83 A.F.&A.M. in Bangor. Brian is a part-time student as well, and is currently working toward his AAS Degree in Computer Programming at Eastern Maine Community College.
In his free time, he enjoys snowboarding, hiking/camping, disc golf, video games, and all things Star Trek. Brian lives in Bangor where he would like to remain indefinitely, as he feels that the Bangor Region is a truly wonderful place to live!

Amanda attended the New England School of Communications where she received her bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Marketing and Graphic Design. Before working at Pulse in 2020, she spent 10 years crafting her marketing skills in both the jewelry and automotive industry. She also freelanced as a graphic designer.
At Pulse, Amanda is dedicated to curating creative and engaging content. She prides herself on being a “rock star” marketer for her clients and coworkers. She believes creativity is more than design it’s a story. She takes great joy in the opportunity to share someone’s story through writing and design. She is Google Ads certified.
Amanda is a proud “county girl” born and raised in Presque Isle, Maine. In her free time, she loves adventure, giving back to her community, and spending time with family. Her adventures are often with her husband and their dog, Layla. In the summer, they enjoy hiking and traveling, and in the winter they enjoy snowboarding. She is an active member of multiple local organizations, including the Bangor Region Leadership Institute Class of 2023, FUSION: Bangor’s Steering and Events committees, the Downtown Bangor Partnership Marketing Committee, and the Husson University College of Business Advisory Board for Marketing and Graphic/Visual Design.
In her words – “I’m a Mainer. I care about my community, and as a young professional, think this region is a great place to live, work, and play,” she said. “That’s why I chose to go into marketing, and why I always had passion for giving back and making a difference in my community. We’re located in downtown Bangor and it brings me joy to work with small and large businesses here and all around the country to help them grow.”

Julienne, a New Hampshire native, earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of New Hampshire. With experience in sales, hospitality, and healthcare, Julienne brings a unique perspective to Pulse and has a true passion for customer service and client satisfaction. She is detail-oriented and loves seeing a project through from inception to completion.
Julienne lives in Millinocket with her husband and dog. With an affinity for health and wellness, she loves the tranquility of living on a lake and enjoys boating, cooking, and baking in her free time.

Chris attended Columbia College Chicago where he received a bachelor’s degree in Communications. While at Columbia, Chris worked with the founders of a startup called Zest to develop a successful marketing and advertising campaign. Before college and becoming a part of the Pulse team, Chris served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years where he worked as a linguist, becoming proficient in the Pashto, Farsi, and Dari languages. During his time in the Marine Corps, Chris served as the Vice President of a joint base volunteer organization called BOSS and traveled the world, including a deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Now, as a member of Pulse’s marketing team, Chris brings the drive that the military taught him to his work, focusing on helping people to effectively accomplish their goals and objectives.
Chris grew up living in South Portland, where he lived for eight years. Later on in life, he lived in many parts of the U.S., including St. Louis, MO, Jacksonville, NC, and Chicago, IL, before returning back to Maine in 2022. In his free time, Chris enjoys listening to the Grateful Dead, hiking, and spending time with his wife Emily, dog named Forrest, and cat named Pepe.

Tyler holds a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Ithaca College. Tyler started as a member of the Pulse Sales team, where he worked to create new relationships with prospective clients in addition to continuing to build current relationships with existing clients. He is now a member of the marketing team, where he helps to maintain Pulse’s social media presence, send out monthly reports to clients, in addition to managing some accounts on his own.
During his time at Ithaca, Tyler was the president of IC’s Public Relations Student Society of America and American Advertising Federation chapters, where he took the lead on planning key fundraising events like PRSSA’s “SWISH for Make A Wish” charity basketball tournament. He loves public relations and creating strategic plans for clients, as he takes pride in helping others to achieve their goals. In his free time, he loves to write and perform music with his bands Anxious Hands and Black Halo as well as spending time with his girlfriend Alyssa, family, and two cats Cheeto and Nemo.

Kay holds a B.A. in magazine journalism and an M.A. in writing and publishing. A Maine journalist and freelance writer for more than 20 years, Kay began working part-time for the BDN as an Events Marketing Specialist and has continued with Pulse Marketing Agency on special projects.
Kay has multiple Maine Press Association awards for writing and is an author and screenwriter. She enjoys the outdoors, craft beer, arts and entertainment, and is crazy about cats. Yes, she’s one of those.

Scott is a graduate of the University of Maine and has been programming computers since dabbling in BASIC on an Atari 600XL home computer. Scott has more than two decades of professional web development experience with a passion for WordPress.
Scott lives with his wife and two dogs in Old Orchard Beach, enjoys collecting retro video games (Atari), and watching Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Marcie attended both New England School of Communications and University of Maine at Augusta. Marcie has more than 20 years of graphic design experience. She began her career in television as a director and graphic designer for newscasts, where she worked for many years. Marcie has owned her own local promotional products and design business, freelanced graphic design services, and held the title of Digital Media Coordinator at a hospital on the coast of Maine prior to joining Bangor Daily News in 2014.
In 2019, she began working for both the Bangor Daily News and Pulse Marketing Agency on digital and print projects. Marcie is passionate about advertising and graphic design, and feels fortunate that she’s able to spend everyday doing what she loves as a career. In her free time she is a music enthusiast, and lives with her husband and children in the Bangor area.

Ben attended the University of Maine where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a concentration in Advertising and a minor in Graphic Design.
He has been an employee at the Bangor Daily News since 2010 where he started as a Classified Ad Sales Representative tasked with selling and processing classified ads and legal notices as well assisting with print subscription customer support.
Ben is currently a Digital Fulfillment Specialist with additional duties in print production, graphic design, and social media management. He holds multiple Maine Press Association awards for print ad design.
Prior to working at the Bangor Daily News and Pulse, Ben held part time and management positions in retail for over 12 years.
Ben enjoys hiking, mountain biking, bowling, board/video gaming, hunting, and hobby farming. He lives in Winterport with his two cats and pronounces gif with a hard G.
